Program Adaptations by Season

Spring Programs (March – May)

As daylight extends, programs shift to earlier start times. Routes emphasize park connectors and waterfront paths as vegetation returns. Layered clothing guidance is included in pre-session communications.

The Spring Forward Challenge runs for eight weeks, encouraging consistent attendance as weather transitions from cool to mild.

Summer Programs (June – August)

Extended daylight allows for longer route options and earlier departures. Hydration reminders and sun exposure guidance are standard parts of session briefings. Groups may explore archipelago-adjacent paths.

The Midsummer Miles Challenge focuses on route exploration with weekly distance variety rather than speed or intensity.

Autumn Programs (September – November)

Shorter daylight hours gradually shift session times later. Routes through tree-lined areas offer seasonal scenery. Wet leaf coverage on paths is noted in route briefings for appropriate footwear selection.

The Autumn Pathways Challenge emphasizes exploring new neighborhoods before winter route adjustments take effect.

Winter Programs (December – February)

Programs continue through winter with adjusted routes favoring cleared paths and well-lit streets. Reflective gear and headlamps are standard recommendations. Sessions may be rescheduled during severe weather conditions.

The Winter Walkers Challenge maintains group momentum through the darkest months with shorter, well-lit urban routes.
